State Coordinator Representative
Daniel Fitzgerald, MPH, ICPS is the Rhode Island State Coordinator for SADD and works for the American Lung Association as the Director of Tobacco Free Rhode Island. Dan’s educational background is in prevention science, social marketing, nonprofit management, and public health. Dan began his journey in substance use prevention and tobacco control at the age of 12 as a youth advocate in his community through a local SADD chapter he started. He brought his grassroots passion to the systems level and has worked at the local, state, and national levels. He believes in the power of youth voice and knows firsthand the impact it can have on societal change. Recently, Dan was recognized for his tremendous impact on tobacco control around the nation and received the 2019 C. Everette Koop Unsung Hero Award in honor of the Late United States Surgeon General C. Everett Koop.
